1. Hiking to Xitle Volcano

 

 

El Xitle Volcano is a volcano located south of Mexico City very close to the Ajusco, this volcano It is characterized by having a very important history in the geology of southern Mexico City since this volcano forever changed the landscape geology and biodiversity of this part of the city, burying with its eruption one of the first civilizations that inhabited the Valley of Mexico.

 

This cone type volcano it has an impressive crater 250m in diameter and 50m deep, making it that will allow us to see a very steep crater but also very good preserved since not having made a big explosion when I erupt makes Some 2000 years ago it was preserved almost entirely.

2. Walkthrow The Underground Lava Caves

 

 

The The eruption of Xitle completely changed the southern landscape of the City of Mexico, since the lava eruption was so large that it covered a good part of the skirts of the Ajusco reaching the Valley of Mexico and what is now Ciudad University, burying everything in its path change the vegetation and the landscape of the entire region. 4. Visita a la Zona Arqueológica de Cuicuilco

(Opcional)

 

 

>> Cuicuilco is a Mesoamerican archaeological zone of the pre-classic period located in the extreme southwest of the Basin of Mexico and close to what was the Chalco-Xochimilco lake, in present-day Mexico City. According to the previous chronology, Cuicuilco could be one of the oldest important populations of the Valley of Mexico, contemporary with the Olmec culture of Tabasco, which is considered the mother of all cultures, however Cuicuilco keeps many mysteries since it disappeared by the El Xitle volcano explosion causing the entire city to be buried in volcanic lava, similar to what happened in Pompeii, however when doing excavations, archaeologists managed to find what was its most important ceremonial center, a set of pyramids and very peculiar structures .

 

 


> We will carry out a guided tour of the Archaeological Zone of Cuicuilco, where we will have the opportunity to visit and admire various Pre-Hispanic structures where we will learn we will learn the most important data of this civilization, we will visit a small museum where we can find some sculptures and crafts that were found in the region discovering one of the oldest cultures in the Valley of Mexico
